Cowing House Border

Probably American, circa 1815-1820

This pattern is licensed to Adelphi Paper Hangings by Historic New England.

Description

A pristine, unused length of this border was found in the Cowing House in Weymouth, Massachusetts. The stencil-like quality and use of alternating white and black sprigs suggests that it was likely a product of Moses Grant, Jr., the Boston paperstainer.
