Lion Frieze

French, circa 1830s

This pattern is licensed to Adelphi Paper Hangings by the Ladies Hermitage Association.

Description

As with the Hermitage Leaf Border, President Andrew Jackson imported this French Empire style frieze for use in his Nashville mansion, the Hermitage. The frieze is matched with an ashlar block pattern and is used in both the upstairs and downstairs side halls. An original fragment at the Hermitage bears the maker’s mark of the French firm Cartulet et Simone.

Imperial Measurements: Repeat 21 ½ inches, width 9 ½ inches

Metric Measurements: 54.6 cm, 24.1 cm.

Samples

Samples are available for all Adelphi Paper Hangings patterns. Standard pattern samples are 12 inches by 23 inches and are available for $15. for each pattern. Small samples, business envelope size, are available on request, at no charge (limited to 10 per customer).
