Reveillon Arabesque 600

French, 1788

This pattern is licensed to Adelphi Paper Hangings by The Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution.

Description

Pattern #600, from the factory of Jean-Baptiste Reveillon, is a most unusual example of a French arabesque pattern. Not only does it exhibit finely detailed block printing but many of the colors are hand painted transluscent washes. Highlights on the allegorical figures are 23 karat gold leaf.

No pattern which we have set out to reproduce has been involved more discussion, planning and, ultimately, steady and patient labor. Everyone at Adelphi has a hand in its production.

Imperial Measurements: Repeat 46 ¾ inches, width 21 ⅛ inches, custom length, half drop, match.

Metric Measurements: 118.7 cm, 53.6 cm.
